The Wheel of Change

 

The Wheel of Change was developed by Prochaska and DiClemente to help us understand the process of change and the many challenges therein.
It’s an illustration of the cycle that many drug, alcohol, and porn abusers undergo. The wheel comprises six segments, each an illustration of where the person is on the cycle of change, from pre-contemplation to relapse. 
The movement through the wheel is a determinant of many factors such as the individual themselves or the circumstances of their life. It can also be a tool to assist families understand the challenges one experience when trying to walk away from addiction.
This course is designed to inform and educate participants on the many aspects of behavioural change to include appropriate interventions of support.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psycho-social therapeutic intervention that aims to improve the mental health and well-being of presenting clients.
The primary aim of CBT is to challenge in order to change maladaptive cognitive distortions and behaviors, to improve emotional regulation, and enhance the development of personal coping strategies in order to improve problem solving skills. 
CBT is acknowledged as a useful and appropriate therapeutic intervention for a range of mental health issues such as Depression, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Addiction and many others.
This course aims to appraise the learner of the practical use of CBT in clinical practice and includes understanding the principals that underpin CBT and as well as  an understanding of the application of the  requisite  skills and their application.
